Responsibilities:
- Improve the processes and practices the team follow
- Pro-active in seeking out issues to improve code quality
- Ability to pay attention to both functional and non-functional requirements
- Keeping up to date with new technologies within the data landscape
- Ensuring data quality, performance, and reliability through automated testing, monitoring, and proactive issue resolution
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements, deliver data solutions, and optimize processes
Qualifications and Experience:
- Degree in Statistics/Computer Science/ Engineering/ Mathematics (or combination of)
- 8+ years relevant experience
- Excellent understanding of relational databases, SSIS/SSAS/SSRS and the features available within SQL Server, proficiency using SQL Server in a highly transactional environment
- Advanced knowledge and understanding of TSQL, query plans and the RDBMS Engine which enables you to identify and resolve complex performance and concurrency issues
- Can model data given requirements and is able to give recommendations on how systems can be designed to allow for future development
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles and experience with relevant tools e.g. Azure DevOps for CI/CD, automation, GIT and infrastructure management
- Considers non-functional requirements when developing or reviewing code (Security, Archiving, etc.)
- Knowledge of other programming languages e.g. Python, PowerShell or C#
- Experience with cloud technologies, particularly Azure, services such as Databricks, Event Hubs.
