A leading Carrier-Class Ethernet (CE 3.0) infrastructure company specializing in highly managed fibre optic broadband connectivity in South Africa is seeking a Specialist in Data Architecture & Database Administration. This critical role involves shaping the organization’s data strategy by designing and maintaining data models, implementing data governance frameworks, and developing strategies that align with long-term business objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Define and manage the overall enterprise data architecture goals and technical strategies
- Develop and enforce data standards, best practices, and frameworks for data management,
storage, integration, and security.
- Design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance data platforms, databases, and systems.
- Lead the establishment of data governance frameworks, including data ownership, stewardship, and quality initiatives.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams including IT, systems & business intelligence to ensure data systems meet business needs
Qualifications and Experience:
- A bachelor’s or Master’s degree Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science or
- related field
- 6+ years of experience in data architecture, data management, or related fields, with at least 3years in an enterprise-level role.
- Proven experience within large-scale data architectures, including relational, non-relational & Graph databases (GraphDB a must!)
- Strong knowledge of data modelling, data governance, data quality, and metadata management
- Good knowledge of cloud-based platforms
- Experience with data integration tools and big data technologies
- Expertise in database management systems (e.g., SQL, MySQL, GraphDB, MongoDB, PostGIS).
